My help comes from the Lord

Based on Psalm 121, 139 & 23.

The Lord is my shepherd I shall not want, He makes me lie down in green pastures and by quiet waters, He restores my soul. I lift up my eyes to the hills where does my help come from, it comes from the maker of Heaven and earth. He will not let my foot slip, He who watches over me will never slumber or sleep. The Lord will keep me from all harm. He will watch over my life now and for evermore. Lord you know me, you know when I sit and when I lie down. You know my thoughts from afar, you are familiar with all my ways. Wherever I go you are there. You created me in my mothers womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Search me O God and know my heart. See if there is any offensive way in me and lead me in thy way everlasting.

You may be going through a tough time at the moment, you may be wondering where is God in all this. You may feel that He has left you and you are all alone BUT He is with you. He leads you by still waters to restore your soul. Rest in Him. He has promised to be with us always to the very end of the age. Sit with Him in the quiet. Wait for Him Read His word. Ask Him to speak to you through His word or His spirit but most of all just be. Just be with Him, just wait on Him. Know He is right there with you now. You may not ‘feel’ Him there but trust that He is. Put some relaxing music on, sit, relax and wait. Give Him all your worries and concerns of the day Surrender them to Him He can carry the load, we cant. Surrender it all. Worship Him for He is worthy to be praised. He will speak, maybe today maybe tomorrow, through His Word or in your heart or maybe you will just know His presence with you but if you take the time to listen, to sit and be still and know, you will hear Him, He will guide you. Be still and know that I am God.

Poem
I came to sit with my Father
I had so much i wanted to say
So i sat and told Him my troubles
In the rush and the usual way

But my heart suddenly realised
That's not the way it should be
I need to sit at His feet
And wait for Him to speak to me

I sat and waited for Him
I said how sorry am I
Please forgive me Father
And I waited for him to reply

I felt that He was smiling
And that He was drawing near
Above all the voices in my head
Would i discern His and be able to hear

So i sat and waited in silence
I wated for His still small voice
Oh what joy will fill my heart
When he speaks, i will rejoice

I felt that He drew near to me
Ans whispered in my ear
I'm always here with you child
You have nothing at all to fear

I promised to be with you
I have never left your side
My Holy Spirit is in you
He is always your daily guide

Trust me with all your heart
And lean not on what you know
I have a plan for you my child
So that you will surely grow

So stay close by me always
Hear my voice in the darkest night
One day you will be in heaven
When everything will be alright

God can be found

God can be found in every area of our lives throughout our day. Look out for Him. Listen for His still small voice, be aware of His presence, see His creation throughout the day. He can be found if you stop your rushing, stop doing and just simply be. 'Be still and know that I am God'.

He is in the sunsets, creation, your child's face, that mountain range, that amazing sunset, the night sky but He is also with you right now whenever you are. Just stop and be still.

Jesus on the Cross

I’m standing at the cross of Jesus,
I don’t feel I can even look up
It’s my sin thats holding him there
He is drinking from my cup

The wrath i should have bore
For the evil things I’ve done
Why would you do this Jesus
Gods only begotten Son

I look up and see His face,
He is looking right at me
All this pain He is going through
Is so I would be set free

It is finished He now cries
The temple curtain torn in two
People are running scared
They know not what to do

I kneel before Him now
With tears upon my face
He died to save us from our sins
By Gods unfailing Grace

Forever I will love Him
For what He has done for me
Forever in my heart He lives
For all eternity

Poem on Proverbs

My church Homegroup was meeting for our study on Proverbs and one of my friends who was leading it asked if I had a poem to fit the passage about wisdom and foolishness and I said I didn’t but that I would write one for her. So I did. This is the result. I think this one took 10 mins 🙂

Those who fear the Lord
Will live a righteous life
They trust in all He says
He protects them from worry and strife

The one who turns his back
On the Lord our God and King
Will find no peace in trouble
He struggles in everything

So come my righteous ones
Act wisely in all you do
Keep your eyes on Jesus
To bring peace and joy to you

The fear of the Lord prolongs life
So keep wisdom as your crown
Remember her in all you do
So that in troubles you wont drown

The one who made the heavens
Our God Our Saviour Our King
He made us in his image
To us he is everything

So live a life that honors Him
Bring glory to His name
The One who gives us wisdom
We will never be the same

Jesus on the Cross

 Jesus on the Cross

As I think about Easter and remember what Jesus did for us these words came to mind.

As Jesus was hanging on the cross people were mocking Him, shouting at Him 'Let Him come down from the cross then we will believe', 'He trusts in God, let God deliver Him'...........

Jesus had done nothing wrong, He had loved people, healed them, blessed them, raised Lazarus from the dead but here He is, the Son of God, nailed to a cross. People mocking Him. Don't they realise who He is? Don't they understand the scriptures? All the prophesies about Him, and there were many, all came true, even down to the one that says He will ride into Jerusalem on a donkey.

They don't realise what they are doing or saying. But, this had to happen, It had been foretold. This is what Jesus came for, no one could save us, we couldn't save ourselves, only the sinless spotless lamb of God could save us. And He did.

He died an agonising death with nails in His hands and feet, a crown of thorns pierced His head and he hung there, bruised, beaten, bleeding. The Son of God, for you and for me. All for you and me. The agony and the pain He went through. The sinless lamb of God.

He loves us this much. He wants us to be in His Kingdom for eternity. He doesn't want anyone to be lost forever. He wants you with Him for ever, not lost but with Him. Anyone who believes in Him shall not perish but have everlasting life.

Think about it. Just think about what Jesus did and make up your mind if He was bad, mad, or the sinless spotless lamb of God. The saviour of the world, Jesus Christ Gods only son who came to save you from an eternity without Him. Eternity is a very long time
